George Strauser

SuniGeorge Strauser teaches piano, voice, and music theory, and basic composition.

Mr. Strauser has taught Music at every level from kindergarten through college. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano and Voice, and a Master’s Degree in Voice from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, and a Master’s Degree in Opera from Indiana University. He has done further graduate studies at Indiana University, the University of Illinois and Montclair State College. He attended Oberlin College-Conservatory for additional studies on a Rockefeller Foundation Grant.

He taught Public School music for many years in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, as well as spending several years on the road performing and directing opera productions. He has conducted County, Regional and All-State Festival Choruses in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He also served as rehearsal conductor for the 1975 All-Eastern Chorus in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Strauser’s choruses were invited to perform at MENC conferences and many other regional and state functions. He also served for several years as the Director of the Clifton (NJ) Choral Society. Mr. Strauser was the choral director at Wallkill High School for twelve years where his choirs were awarded several NYSSMA Level 6 gold medals. While teaching at Northern Valley Regional High School he was selected Norvalis Chapter National Honor Society Teacher of the Year. He recently finished several years working at the State University of New York at Ulster where he directed the Choral Ensembles, taught Music History, Music Appreciation and Music Theory, and served for two years as the Music Department Coordinator.

He currently resides in Wallkill, NY with his wife Susan.
